Economy Remap for Improved Fuel Efficiency

Want lower fuel costs without wrecking drivability? Our Economy Remap focuses on torque where you use it most. You’ll need less throttle to maintain speed, fewer downshifts on hills, and a calmer cruise. We keep emissions hardware happy and tune with reliability in mind — all work carried out in-house.

What Is an Economy Remap?

It’s a calibration aimed at improving efficiency and drivability on healthy, mostly stock vehicles. We adjust torque delivery, boost control and fueling strategy so you reach the same road speed with less pedal input. The result is a calmer, easier drive — and on many routes, fewer litres at the pump.

Turbo diesel: broad, low-RPM torque for steady A-road and motorway speeds.
Turbo petrol: smoother part-throttle and earlier upshifts on autos.
Vans & commuters: less gear changing around town; nicer on hills with a load.

We don’t offer mobile work. Tuning is carried out in our Mansfield workshop so we can log and verify the result properly.

Real-World Examples (Economy-Focused Calibrations)

Figures are typical outcomes from healthy vehicles we see locally. Economy gains vary with route, load and driving style.

Engine / Use Case Stock (PS / Nm) Economy Map (PS / Nm) Owner Report
VAG 2.0 TDI (150) — commuter 150 / 340 170–185 / 380–420 +5–10% MPG on mixed Mansfield–Nottingham runs; fewer downshifts.
Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue (130) — light loads 130 / 360 150–165 / 400–430 Holds 6th on A38; easier hills, driver uses less pedal.
BMW 320d B47 (190) — motorway 190 / 400 205–220 / 450–480 Lower RPM cruising; steady +5% MPG at 60–70 mph reported.
Vauxhall 1.5 Turbo D — town & ring road 102 / 250 120–130 / 290–320 Smoother pull from low revs; fewer gear changes around town.
PSA 1.6 BlueHDi — delivery route 120 / 300 135–150 / 330–360 Driver reports +1–2 mpg on stop-start rounds when driven gently.

Benefits You’ll Notice

Calmer Cruising

Extra torque where you sit most of the time means less throttle and fewer kick-downs.

Lower revs at steady speeds
More relaxed motorway driving

Smoother Around Town

Cleaner pull from 1,500–2,500 rpm makes urban driving easier — especially in vans.

Fewer gearchanges
Less pedal for the same pace

Engine-Friendly Strategy

We manage torque, airflow and EGT to keep emissions systems content for road use.

How We Work

Health check & live data: scan for stored/pending faults; verify trims, boost and temps.
ECU read: OBD or bench depending on ECU model/software.
Calibration: torque modelling, fueling and boost control aimed at steady-state efficiency.
Flash & verify: write file, adaptation resets if needed, road test and logging.
Handover: practical tips — tyre pressures, fuel quality, driving style and service intervals.

Risks & Considerations

Economy results depend on vehicle health and how/where you drive. We’ll be straight with you before any tuning.

FactorWhat It MeansOur Approach
Short journeys (diesel) Repeated cold starts and short trips can upset DPF regeneration. We’ll assess your usage; advise on routes or service if DPF load is high.
Pre-existing faults Boost leaks, tired MAFs/injectors or EGR issues will hurt MPG. Diagnostics first. Fix once, map once — for gains that stick.
Driving style & load Heavy right foot or towing reduces the benefit. We tune for efficiency, but your inputs still matter.
Emissions compliance Road cars must retain working emissions equipment. No road-use deletes. We calibrate clean combustion for on-road use.

If your car flags faults during checks, we’ll help you put it right first. Better to sort the issues and map once.

Is an Economy Remap Right for You?

It’s ideal if you cover regular miles and want a calmer, more efficient drive — without chasing peak numbers.

Good Fit

  • Healthy, serviced turbo diesel or petrol
  • Motorway/A-road commuters and delivery drivers
  • Vans that carry light to moderate loads

Maybe Not Yet

  • Active DPF/EGR faults or limp mode
  • Unresolved boost or fueling issues
  • Very short, stop-start only routes

Thinking Ahead

Want a bit more punch as well? Ask about our Stage 1 approach, or gearbox tuning to refine shift logic on autos/DSG.

Mansfield-Based Remap Specialists

We regularly see VAG TDI, Ford EcoBlue, PSA BlueHDi, Mercedes OM-diesels and Vauxhall/Opel turbo units. Local patterns help us spot common culprits — split boost pipes, tired MAFs — before they waste your fuel.

Economy Remap — FAQs

How much better will my MPG be?

Most drivers who keep a steady pace report improvements — often in the +5–15% range — but it depends on route, load and driving style. We don’t guarantee a number.

Will my car feel slower?

No — you’ll usually feel stronger low-down torque and less gear hunting. Peak power isn’t the focus; real-world drivability is.

Is this safe for my DPF/EGR/AdBlue?

Yes — we keep emissions systems in place for road use and tune for clean combustion. If faults are present, we’ll advise fixes first.

Do you offer mobile remapping?

No. All remapping is done in-house at our Mansfield workshop so we can log and verify properly.

Can I pair this with a gearbox map?

Yes. On autos/DSG, refined shift points can lower revs at cruise and make the most of the added torque.
